Natura Interiors offers nature-inspired design and decoration services for second homeowners in The East End of Long Island, NY.
My goal, as owner and lead designer, is to infuse your space with a sense of ease, warmth and comfort. I work with busy clients who envision a hideaway where they can kick of their shoes and be completely authentic. I understand first-hand the practical needs of a second home — functionality, indoor/outdoor living, an active lifestyle. I also can relate to the desire for a haven where we can escape from the stress of daily life.
With a style that can be described as barefoot bliss — open and airy, with rustic yet refined qualities, and a kiss of color, I will help transform your space into an extension of your most relaxed, true self.
Hi, its so nice to meet you! My name is Alejandra, and I am the founder of Natura Interiors.
I was born in Chile, and raised in countries around the world, from India to Myanmar to the Caribbean. I grew up near the water, sailing, scuba-diving, typically running around barefoot and outdoors. Moving from country to country was exciting, however I always had this nagging sensation that I didn’t quite belong. I believe my semi-nomadic upbringing influenced my calling as a designer — to create a sense of belonging, and home, for myself and others.
I eventually moved to New York City, where I raised my daughter and pursued a career in fine arts. After working as a fine artist and professor for a number of years, I decided to return to school and obtain a BFA at The New York School of Interior Design…which was one of the best decisions I ever made! I initially worked in commercial interiors and architecture, became an NCIDQ certified interior designer, and later started my own residential practice in NYC. I also became a faculty member at my alma mater, NYSID, where I continue teaching to this day.
A couple of summers ago, while vacationing in Montauk, I met Captain Andy, a boat captain, environmental advocate, and my soul mate. We got married last year at our home in Shinnecock Hills, where we currently live with our miniature dachshund Pepper. Andy and I renovated our new home together, which definitely gave me an inside view of a project from a client’s perspective! When we are not building or designing things, you can find us surfing, by the fireplace or working in our yard.
My life experiences, from global trotter to urban dweller to coastal lover, led me to form Natura Interiors, a design studio that focuses on helping others create their very own hideaway. There are few things that give me more joy than the smile on my client’s face when they see their newly designed haven for the first time.
